It remained cold and blustery with windshield wipers on for
most of the 65-miles driving to the 16th
annual Antique and Classic Boat Show but it proved to well worth the effort. Hobbes, B. Frank, and Coot were placed together and drew many curious observers, several folks telling stories of wanting or owning a Potter many years ago.

We met up with Danna and Donna, friends of Steve’s, who own
a Potter 19 and are restoring a Potter 14, even older than Hobbes (1969).
Also on display were many beautifully built boats, sail,
paddle, and power, even a couple of steam launches. There were also several artists; Brian Bryson, recently featured in Small Craft Advisor Magazine, and I came across a woman enjoying her oyster-on-the-half-shell lunch which she would eventually turn the shells into beautiful necklaces and earrings.
The absolute highlight for me was being awarded a certificate for Hobbes as Best of Show Fiberglass Classic! It’s always pleasing to get compliments but winning such and award is very special.
All of us enjoyed a hearty dinner together before the gals
headed back to Tallahassee and Steve back to Panama City. Dan and launched our
boats and stay at very nice Water Street Hotel / Marina on the nearby Scipio
Creek. It drizzled a bit overnight but it would take much more than that to
dampen my excitement.
Way to go!!! And, of course...I'm loving the ball cap!!!! :-)
