Now launched and berthed at Pensacola Shipyard (actually a
boatyard) we are charged $24 a night so it’s a short choice to explore for a
cheaper alternative and set sail for a spit of sand across the bay about
5-miles away. After a beach landing we discover that it’s part of tiny Dead
Man’s Island, so named for a few unfortunates that were quarantined there. We
have the whole island to ourselves and quickly settle into playing Robinson
Crusoe – beach cruising at its best.
